HOW TO DO LADY GAGA’s MAKEUP FROM TELEPHONE
Step One: Skin
As always, it’s best to begin with fresh, clean skin and a makeup primer before applying makeup. When applying dark or bright colors on the eyes, some people prefer to apply foundation and powder after doing the eye makeup (in case eyeshadow falls beneath the eyes) while others prefer to do so first. I chose to begin with foundation, concealer, and powder. For best results follow the steps outlined in my Flawless Faces blog.
Step Two: Eyeshadow
Begin by smoothing an eyeshadow primer across the lids and just under the lower lash line. I prefer using Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

Next, apply a midnight blue eyeshadow to the lid using an eyeshadow brush. In these photos, I used Speed Blue eyeshadow from Kat Von D’s True Romance Eyeshadow Palette in Beethoven. Bring the shadow upward toward the brow on the inside corner of the eye and slope downward toward the outer corner of the eye as shown in the photo below.

Pull the blue shadow slightly down the side of the nose to create a point, but leave a slight gap bare near the corner of the eye where we will later apply a highlight shadow. Also apply a small amount of the blue shadow underneath the lower lashes using a small angled brush.

Once the blue shadow is well blended, using a tight-bristled brush apply a black eyeshadow around the edges of the blue shadow and blend. I used MAC eyeshadow in Charred. Using the black eyeshadow, outline underneath the lower lashline beginning from the outer corner of the eye and stopping at the point where the eyelashes end so that some blue shadow is left just below the tear duct area.

Finally, apply a matte, white eyeshadow on the brow bone just underneath the eyebrow and in the gap at the corner of the inner eye that we left bare earlier. I chose Make Up For Ever’s matte white eyeshadow called White 0.

Step Three: Eyeliner
Using a black gel eyeliner, such as MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack, and an eyeliner brush, line the eyes on the upper lashline from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner of the eye. Once applied, gently smudge and blend the liner with your finger. Then apply a white eyeliner pencil to the waterline of your eye by gently pulling your lower lid away from the eye.

Step Four: Lashes
Apply a strip of false lashes using Duo lash glue. While the lash glue is drying, proceed through the last steps. Once the glue is dry, apply a coating of mascara to the upper and lower lashes. I used Lancome’s Hypnose Mascara.

Step Five: Brows
Using a small angle brush, apply a matte, black eyeshadow such as Make Up For Ever’s Black 4 eyeshadow, to the brows. To do this, apply the shadow using short brush strokes in the direction of the hair growth from the inner corner of the brow to the outer edge of the brow. The black eyeshadow on the eye should meet the eyebrows at the point where the eyebrow is at its largest width as pictured.

Step Six: Cheeks
Apply a bright pink blush like Nars’ Mata Hari just below the cheekbones using a contoured blush brush.

Step Seven: Highlight
Use a shimmery, white highlighting powder to add light and definition to the face. Apply it on the apples of the cheeks, bridge of the nose, center of the forehead, and on the chin. A sheer layer is all that is necessary. I used Albatross by Nars.

Step Eight: Lips
For the lips, use a pink lip liner to line and fill in the lips. I used MAC’s magenta lip liner. Next, I applied a layer of MAC’s lipstick in Girl About Town. Finally, for the perfect finishing touch apply a layer of MAC Viva Glam Lipstick in Lady Gaga 1 to achieve the perfect pink pout!
