How To Get Glowing Skin: 5 Tips For A Clear Complexion

1. Drink More Water

Think of it this way, when your cells are hydrated they look like grapes, when your cells are dehydrated they look like raisins. There are so many things that dehydrate us including coffee, alcohol, sugar, stress, and working out. It is important to replenish your body with hydration to achieve a beautiful glow.

Hydration Tip: Find a cute reusable water bottle that you like and carry it around with you everywhere you go. That way you don’t even have to think twice when you are thirsty, it is right at your finger tips. Plastic water bottles are a NO NO – whenever the thin plastic is exposed to heat, it melts into your water. BPA, found in plastic, is a cancer-causing agent. No thank you!

2. Eat More Greens

Add at least 1 extra serving of dark leafy greens to your daily diet. Dark green vegetables have a high content of vitamin A. Vitamin A is responsible for cell regeneration. Think of greens as the opposite of sugar. They are very nourishing for your skin.

Meal Tip: You can easily throw a handful of spinach or kale into your smoothie in the morning, add an extra side salad at dinner, or pick up a superfoods green powder to sip on throughout the day.

3. Get More Sleep

The liver does its magic between the hours of 11pm and 2 am. If you are not sleeping during those hours, the liver does not effectively eliminate toxins and thus they recirculate through the body. More toxins = more pimples.

Sleep Tip: Go to sleep 1 hour earlier! Most people watch TV or search the internet before they go to sleep. Sleep is so much more important than either of those!

4. Eat Less Sugar

Desserts, pasta, bread, crackers, cakes, cookies, candies, and flavored syrups in your coffee – these are all foods that are contributing to your issues with breakouts, poor complexion, and unwanted wrinkles. Limiting or eliminating these foods from your diet will undoubtedly contribute to beautiful skin

Sweet Tip: find healthier alternatives for your favorite treats. Look for products with “natural sugars” in them instead of white sugar or artificial sugars.

5. Dairy or Gluten Allergies?

Find out if you are sensitive to dairy or gluten – acne, eczema and psoriasis have direct links to food sensitivities. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a food allergy test, you can do a food sensitivity test at home.  See below for how to do a food sensitivity test at home:

  • Eliminate gluten, dairy, and sugar from your diet for 30 days. You have to be 100% faithful, but remember it’s only 30 days of the rest of your life!
  • Add foods back in one at a time (start with dairy) and see if you have an allergic reaction or notice any symptoms. Then 48 hours later, add another food back in (gluten) and see if you notice any symptoms.
