TREND: How To Mix Textures During Winter

Some of the best ways to utilize your fabulous wardrobe pieces during the winter is to combine those items that are of various different textures.  Layering your outfit with knits, leather, suede, cotton, and/or silk can make for a very interesting ensemble.  When pulling pieces from your wardrobe there are a few things to remember in order to keep your outfit looking super chic and not frumpy frump.  Namely, less is more.  For example, a thick wool skirt should be paired with a silk blouse or lightweight cotton tee.  A thick sweater should be paired with slim trousers, not a thick wool skirt.  Using this rule of thumb, we combined a flowy leather skirt with an oversized knit cowl-neck sweater and slender suede boots.  This outfit’s color palette is neutral, but you could easily wear a yellow sweater and add a large clutch with a pop of color as spring begins to near!
