On January 27th, 2015 Coastal Provisions’ Inland Tavern
in San Marcos graciously hosted an exclusive dinner party to kick-off their restaurant grand opening. This private event was filled with hand-crafted specialty cocktails, bi-coastal fused dishes, as well as warm and welcoming hospitality. The new neighborhood spot, formally known as ‘Penny Lane Pub’ is located in the heart of downtown San Marcos, across the way from “Restaurant Row”.
Owned by San Diego native, Pete Zacarias, the new restaurant and bar not only instills the original neighborhood vibes that Penny Lane Pub once did, but it also emits a new, contemporary vibe that is unique to its own. Before entering the tavern, guests are greeted by a warp-around patio where there is cozy outdoor seating and lively street views of downtown San Marcos. When inside the tavern, intimate lighting with cool shades of blue surround the bar, complementing the open-spaced layout. This layout is perfect for larger scenes looking to grab a draft brew or even for a couple on date night looking for a new hip spot. With the idea of beach coastal in mind, the decor and music of Inland Tavern is quite on par as well. From the in-house fireplace to the alternative-rock music, it’s hard to deny the edge of coolness that Zacarias has restored within the tavern.
Aside from the chill ambiance, Inland Tavern also holds a bold and flavor promising bi-coastal menu. Driven and created by international chef, Rob Conaway, North County’s newest eatery has the perfect blend of pungent flavor by strategically pairing Mexican and Asian influences. Conaway explains, “Through my travels, cooking and eating everything from burgers in San Francisco, sandwiches in New York, shawarma in Dubai and dishes accented with lemongrass in Thailand, I’ve learned that some of the best food is simple, but crafted with a lot of heart.” And that inspiration or heart, rather, could definitely be tasted at the recent grand opening of Inland Tavern. Specialty Cocktail: Poire On The Rocks. Ingredients: Grey Goose La Poire, Fresh Muddled Pear, House-Made Simple-Syrup, Pineapple Juice, Lemon Juice.
Specialty Cocktail: Ginger Peach Cooler. Ingredients: Ciroc Peach Vodka, Domiane de Canton House-Made Tahitian Vanilla Simple Syrup, Lemon Juice, Pineapple Juice, Cucumber, Up.
Daily Flatbread: Brie, Chicken, Thai Basil, Beet, Horseradish.
Taco Plates: Fish, Chicken, Carne Asada, Carnitas, Shrimp.
